NEDC Project: Fintiri Flags Off Construction Of 500 Housing Units

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has flagged off the construction of 500  housing units at Duware, Yola South Local Government Area, sponsored by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).

 According to the governor, the laying of the foundation for the construction of 500 Housing Units by NEDC is part of efforts to expand access to its services in the state.

He maintained that this gesture not  only adds aesthetic beauty to the state, but also aligns with his administration’s policy goals

He appreciated the efforts and  immense contributions of the NEDC in the state, promising that government’s  continuing  support/collaboration with the commission in all its programmes and activities in the state.

In his remarks, Major General Paul Tarfa, Chairman Governing Board of Northeast Development Commission said NEDC has been carrying projects in the state that include, construction of classrooms and training of youths on various skills acquisition among others

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NEDC, Alhaji Mohammed Goni Alkali in his keynote address said the Commission has built 1000 houses in Borno, while five hundred houses each will be spread across five other states in the Northeast region.

He maintained that of the Five hundred houses to be built in Adamawa, 250 houses will be sited at Duware community while the remaining 250 will be spread across cities in the state.

The Chairpersons of Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Special Duties and NEDC, Yusuf A Yusuf and Khadija Bukar Abba assured further legislative backing for success of the Commission in the region.

Similarly, Governor Umaru Fintiri alongside management of NEDC had commissioned and handed over the Burn Centre to the management of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.

 New Nigeria reports that the Burn Center was build by the NEDC to cater for the high incidences of burn injuries and other associated incidences in the state.

Governor Fintiri and the entourage  from NEDC had also commissioned and handed over the fully equipped Molecular Laboratory to the management of the State Specialist Hospital, Yola. The Laboratory built by the Northeast Development Commission.

In another development, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has also received 19 trucks of food and non food items donated by the North-East Development Commission.

The Governor thanked the commission for the gesture which he noted will fight hunger especially during the rainy season, saying it has come at  the right time.

He assured that the items will be judiciously distributed to the nooks and crannies of the state to serve the purpose for which it was meant for.
