NDLEA Seizes 568.91 kg of dDugs in Adamawa

The Adamawa Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA )  has seized 569.91 kg of Indian helms and arrested four suspect in less than two weeks in Adamawa.

Mr. Yakubu Kibo,  state commander of the agency who made the disclosed during a press conference held at the command headquarters in Yola, said that the development followed intensive patrol measures put in place by the command on the major highways in the state.

According to him, on  February 2, 2017, the agency’ operatives along Yola- Numan highway intercepted a J5 Bus  with registration No. KTN 244 YZ , Katsina with 418 blocks of cannbis Sativa weighing 343.9 kg concealed in the false floor of the vehicle.

“During the search a false floor was discovered to have been constructed inside the vehicle and after it was removed ; a total of 418 blocks of Indian hemp  weighing 343.9 kg were found neatly concealed in the false compartment.” Kibo said.

He worried  that the method  of concealment  could  also be used to conceal arms and ammunition contraband and human trafficking  across the length and breath  of the country.

He said that a follow up operation was carried out to the exhibits  owner’s house at Bachure area in Jimeta where  additional 137 blocks of the substance was found .

In the same vein, the commander stated that on February 2, and 12, 2017 the command equally intercepted 47.4 and 33.6 kg of illegal gal substance  along Jalingo- Yola  and Yola Girei  roads respectively.

 He urged the general public to to support the command on  it’s effort to ride out the menace and activity of the drugs barons.
