NASC Advises Farmers To Make Contact With Seed Companies



The Regional Director North West of National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC)  Uban Doma Hudu Muhammad has advised farmers to make contact with seed companies for genuine seeds. 
He gave the advise at the farmers field day organized by NASC at Sakaru Village in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday. 
The field day was organized in collaboration with seed companies that provide farmers with variety of seeds which they showcased. 
Uban Doma Hudu said government policies on agriculture have helped farmers to become  richer.
He said the present administration is working tirelessly in ensuring that Nigeria records  bumper harvest of food crops. 
The Regional Director said, farming is a business venture not  for food consumption alone.
While commending the present administration for all the support farmers and agriculture is receiving since it’s assumption in office, Uban used the occasion to advise communities to put their heads together and approach  seed companies on how to  get seeds easily when due. 
He advised youth who think that farming is not profitable to rethink and engage  in farming activities  for better living. 
In his message, the Zonal Manager KADA Maigana Zone, Ahmed Abubakar who was represented by Ishaq Abubakar  Shika, congratulated the farmers and the seed companies for their landmark achievement. 
He emphasized the need for farmers to always use correct and genuine seeds in their farms for good yields at  harvest.
The Zonal Manager also advised them to accept all the new technologies and put them into practice just like what they have seen at the demonstration farm. 
While explaining the success story of the demonstration farm, a farmer, Malam Abdullahi said despite late planting and drought, yet the results were excellent. 
He called on the seed companies to change their timing by giving out seeds to farmers as early as possible.
