Nasarawa Varsity VC Inaugurates Board For Molecular Diagnostics, Infectious Disease Control

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, has charged the academic board of the Institute of Molecular and Infectious Diseases Control to ensure the rapid growth and development of the Institute.
Professor Suleiman, who gave the charge while inaugurating members of the academic board, said the composition of the membership was carefully chosen because of their competence and pedigree. 
He further stated that the inauguration of the academic board is also expected to complement the proposed College of Health and Medical Sciences, which will soon come on board.
Responding on behalf of other members, chairman of the academic board and Dean Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Professor Umar Gurku thanked the management of the University for finding them worthy of serving in that capacity. 
Other board members are Professor Jonathan Ayuba, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu Suleiman, Dr. Peter Asaga, Professor Ari Maikano, Dr. Andrew Yako, Mr. Bawa Abdullahi, Dr. Saratu Stephen Audu, Professor Makut Dalandi Makwin, and Dr. J.K. Makpo, who will serve as the secretary of the board.
The Institute of Molecular Diagnostics and Infectious Disease Control which is run in partnership with the WHO/ University of Freiburg, Germany, and the Federal Ministry of Health offers the following Postgraduate programs, M.Sc. Global Urban Health and Tropical Medicine(Public Health), M.Sc. Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
Other courses offered by the Institute include, M.Sc. Molecular Biology, M.Sc. Virology, and M.Sc. Molecular Medicine and Cancer Biology.
Candidates admitted for the postgraduate program in Global Urban Health, and Tropical Medicine will spend the first six months of the training program at the University of Freiburg, Germany, before returning to Nigeria to complete the course.
