The Nasarawa State Government has assured workers that it would not relent on its duty to upskill workers through building capacity, enhancing performance, and ease in carrying out government processes in line with the tenets of the 21st century.
The Head of Nasarawa State Civil Service, represented by the Director, Grading Pension and Training, Office of the Head of the Civil Service (OHCS), Danladi Ibn Umann disclosed this as he presented certificates of completion to 141 Civil servants who completed the Emerging Markets Model Initiative (EMMI) Basic training which took place at the Umaru Tanko Al-Makura Computer Based Test Centre in Lafia.
He assured the workers of the Governments vision to have workers ICT Compliant, equipped with needed digital skills and know-how to pivot the state forward, assuring the worker that the administration was ready to ensure capacity building and training like the Emerging Markets Model Initiative (EMMI) were available to all workers to boost capacity, moral and get all workers in tune with modern technology needed in the workplace.
Delivering his address the Director-General Bureau for Information and Communication Technology (BICT) Shehu Ibrahim, congratulated the participants for their commitment and efforts towards making this programme a success, stating that their efforts show that ICT has a place in Nasarawa and the Nasarawa State Civil Service was ready to compete in any global workforce environment.
The DG stated that the administration of Gov. Abdullahi Sule was moving Nasarawa State towards becoming Digital dependent Economy and the multi-stakeholder approach was the best practice towards sustainability and growth of Information Technology in the state.
He appreciated the efforts of the Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative (Tech4Dev), a non-profit organization established to empower African communities with digital skills that would bridge the gap of unskilled labour needed to work.
The programme is to create and empower master trainers that would deliver fundamental, intermediate, and advanced level digital skills training across MDAs.
Speaking at the event the Partnerships & Sustainability Lead ( Tech4dev) Ms. Yusufu Ojonoka appreciated the efforts of the Nasarawa State Government for the partnership that brought the programme.
Ms. Ojonoka further commended the State for its commitment which made the programme fast, producing not only one of the fastest, but with the highest completion rates, assuring the state that they (tech 4Dev) were happy with it efforts and would bring more Microsoft training programmes to the state.
The participants representative Mr. Ahmed Mustapha Dalhatu, commended Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for his efforts of governance, especially in the area of civil service reform, where his efforts at crafting out ICT, stating it was a good sign at 25 Nasarawa State was moving in the right direction.
