The leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Kaduna State axis, has expressed total pleasure over the review of school fees of the state owned tertiary institutions by the government.
A statement signed and issued to newsmen on Monday by the Kaduna State chairperson, Faith Progress Istifanus, disclosed that without mincing words, the leadership of Kaduna NANS has remained resolute and steadfast towards assuring the welfare and interest of the students are being salvaged.
“While we appreciate our heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, it is important we to plead for further succour and palliatives for our teeming students in order to ameliorate the current economic hardship,” the chairman said.
It would be recalled that In response to the public outcry over the current fees being charged by tertiary institutions in Kaduna State and its effect on school enrolment and retention, the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Malam Uba Sani directed Heads of tertiary institutions in conjunction with the Ministry of Education to obtain relevant information on the extant fees regime in the state owned tertiary institutions.
Similarly, on Monday August 21, 2023, Kaduna State Government announced reduction in the state owned tertiary institutions fees ranging from 30 to 50 per cent downward review in various state institutions.
