Tragedy has struck the camp of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) as one of its officials has been stabbed to death in Lagos.
The deceased, identified as comrade Oshin Aderibigbe was until his untimely death the public relations officer, Joint Campus Committee NANS Lagos axis.
He was reportedly stabbed on 26th April 2019 at about 11.30am by three young men with a knife.
The assailants according to report dispossessed him of his handset and laptop during the attack.
While confirming the incident, the police public relations officer Lagos Command DSP Bala Elkana said the deceased personally reported the incident at Okoko Police Station before he died.
According to Elkana, the student leader was rushed to an hospital immediately he reported the incident but died in the process.
However, the police spokesperson disclosed that the leader of the hoodlums responsible for the dastardly act has been arrested.
Bala, who identified the suspect as Bashiru Ahmed (a.k.a Kawu) aged 21, residence of Okoko, added that he had confessed to the crime.
He described the suspect as son of a popular traditional ruler in Okoko,adding that he is a notorious criminal who was charged to Court on several occasions by the Police for sundry offenses.
According to Bala, the suspect returned from prison six months ago and has been on the watchlist of the Police.
The police image maker hinted that the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for discreet investigation.
In addition, he said detectives have spread their tentacles on the trace of the remaining two suspects on the run.
His words, ” On 26/04/2019 at about 11.30am, one Comrade Oshin Aderigbigbe m, later identified as the Public Relations Officer, Joint Campus Committee (JCC), National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos axis , reported at Okokomaiko Police Station with blood gushing out of his body and stated that he was attacked by three young men who dispossessed him of his handset and laptop and stabbed him with a knife. He was rushed to the hospital but eventually died.
The leader of the hoodlums that attacked him, Bashiru Ahmed a.k.a Kawu ‘m’ 21yrs old of Okoko was arrested.
He confessed to have committed the Crime along with two of his friends who are now at large.
