NAF offers free audiometric testing to hearing impaired persons

Wife of Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Monday flagged off free audiometric testing exercise and distribution of hearing aid devices to hearing impaired persons in the State.
The free Audiometric Testing and Distribution of Hearing Aid Devices to hearing impaired persons was conducted at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant on Communications to the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Adamu said the project was initiated and sponsored by MTN Nigeria Foundation (MTNF) under its Hearing Aid Support Project.
According to the statement, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar was represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Fatimah Gidado where she thanked MTN Nigeria for choosing Bauchi to be among the 6 states in the country to benefit from the project.
She enjoined all hearing impaired persons in Bauchi State to come out en masse and take advantage of the opportunity the Nigeria Air force offers for free medical treatment to Bauchi communities
The two-day medical outreach being carried out in Gubi and Durum communities which were close to the newly established Air Force base under construction about 15 kilometers from the Bauchi township marks part of the activities commemorating the 52 years anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force.
According to the Commander of the new 89 Composite Group Bauchi, Air Commodore Sule Lawal, the Air Force medical team carried out treatment for illnesses like malaria as well as blood tests to detect other diseases.
Other services offered by the Air Force medical outreach exercise, according to Lawal, include; eye tests and treatment, Dental services.
The 52 years anniversary of the Air Force scheduled to hold on Wednesday and Thursday the 13th and 14th of April in Bauchi is tagged ‘Re-uniting for Enhanced Service Delivery and Operational Effectiveness’‎.
The programme is aimed at enhancing the Nigerian Air Force operational capacity through partnership with retired personnel in order to attain a virile and self-reliant Air Force.
It would also provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas‎ that could lead to the building of partnership with informed participants in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria, the statement concluded.
