‘My administration not an adjunct of my predecessor’ Governor Udom
By; Patrick Titus, Uyo.
Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel said his administration is not an appendage of the immediate government of Chief Godswill Akpabio, now a Senator representing Ikot Ekpene senatorial district in the national assembly.
Governor Emmanuel’s reaction followed the allegation in some quarters that his administration which was duly constituted according to the Constitution of the Federal Government of Nigeria upon being declared the winner of the April 11th governorship election in the state is an adjunct of his predecessor in office.
In a State-wide Radio and Television Broadcast, the governor explained that the administration under his watch is an improvement on the last which he said had taken Akwa Ibom people out of Egypt to the Jordan River while his administration is taking the State across the Jordan River to the Promised Land. He assured that the present government would lift the people above those who had underestimated them.
Governor Emmanuel who made the broadcast on his return from Abuja after the Appeal Court Judgment which annulled his April election and ordered a rerun in all the thirty one Local Government Areas of the state,  also took a swipe on a statement credited to some lieutenants of the immediate past administration claiming that the former government which they served in seven of its eight years, was wasteful, irresponsible and corrupt and described such statement as a sad commentary on Nigerian Political evolution.
“It’s a sad commentary on our politics that people who were part of the last administration would turn round and demonized the government. Such talk cannot and will not fool Akwa Ibom people. When they lie to you, ask them the source of their wealth, and the investment made to become wealthy and super-rich”, Governor Emmanuel noted.
He advised the people of the State against taking laws into their hands in their reaction to the Appeal Court Verdict over the 2015 April 11th gubernatorial election assuring that as the custodian of the people’s mandate, he takes charge of the state as the Chief Executive.
