Muslim Specialist Hospital Zaria Earmarks N1.85bn On Proposed School Of Nursing, Diagnostic Complex

The Muslim Specialist Hospital Zaria has
said that it will spend N1.85 billon on its  proposed diagnostic complex, school of nursing and midwifery.
Dr Abdulhamid Abubakar Bala, Chairman Board  of Management of the Hospital made the disclosure during the third stakeholders meeting in Zaria on Sunday. 
He said the establishment of the school of Nursing and Midwifery Training Institution at the hospital would enable the hospital to train the personnel in accordance with the doctrines of Shari’a. 
According to him, a block of six flats to accommodate some staff performing emergency duties will be provided.
He added that the proposed training institution would also provide additional manpower towards improving the services at the hospital and reducing dearth of human resources for health in the long run. 
“The land is there for the construction and a design estimated to cost about N2.39 million has been produced.
” In order to further improve services and revenue to the hospital, a diagnostic complex has been proposed to replace the outgrown units we have at the moment.
“The design estimated to cost N174 million has also been produced,” he said

Balarabe said the a block of six flats is also proposed to serve as an accommodation for staff performing emergency duties to further improve services in the hospital.Dr. Abubakar Bala said the entire project has been estimated to cost N857.4 million and furniture and equipment about N963.9 making up to a total of about N1.85 billion.
He said the hospital is to have 100 beds with 101 permanent staff supported by various cadres of health professionals.

he accreditation of the hospital by NHIS and Kaduna State Contributory Health Scheme has made expansion of infrastructure and equipment very imperative,” he said. 

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Prof Kabiru Bala appealed for more spirit of communal support and initiatives.
He therefore, advised the board of the hospital to come up with a foundation in the name of the hospital, from where proceeds of whatever goes into the foundation can be ploughed into the hospital. 
This, the vice chancellor said,  would augment revenue at the hospital.

Corroborating, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Bamalli said if every Muslim worker in Zaria has been contributing N500 and become consistent in the contribution, perhaps they will have something bigger than what is being hoped for.
The emir was represented by Wazirin Zazzau, Alhaji Mohammed-Inuwa Aminu.

Highpoint of the event was presentation of award to some board members and special prayers for deceased leaders who contributed to the development of the hospital.
