Murder: Two to die by hanging in Ekiti

Two persons have been sentenced to death by hanging for murder by the Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ikole Ekiti.
Delivering his judgment on Wednesday, Justice Abiodun Adesodun held that the convicted persons, Segun Adeyemo and Gboye Babaniwura were guilty of murder charges based on the evidence before the court.
The trial judge affirmed that on September 13th, 2011 the convicted persons intentionally murdered one Sikiru Amadu and Yeti Abubakar with dangerous weapons at Iluomoba-Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Government area of the state.
The trial judge held that such offence was criminal in nature as the evidence before the court had proved that the death of the people was masterminded by the convicted persons.
Counsel to the convicted persons, Mr Bode Kowe called three witnesses to prove the innocence of the accused.
But Justice Abiodun Adesodun, after the arguments of both parties held that the convicted persons were guilty as charged and sentenced them to death by hanging.
It would be recalled that the convicted persons, Segun Adeyemo and Gboye Babaniwura had been on trial since September 2013 when the case was first mentioned.
