Wife of the President, Hajiya Aishat Buhari has tasked Nigerians on the need to be part of the green revolution to help save the environment from the effect of global warming, saying the campaign had become necessary to save mankind and future generation from natural disasters.
Hajia Buhari said this during the Green Education for the Youth (GEFTY) programme tagged “Greening the Economy” commemorating the 50th birthday Anniversary of the Wife of the Governor of Ogun State , Mrs Olufunso Amosun at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
She urged Nigerians not to pay lip service to the issue of climate change, particularly now that the earth’s temperature was rising beyond normal, noting that if the theme of the GEFTY programme; “Greening the economy” would be realised, relevant stakeholders need to embrace the green initiative to reduce the adverse effect of climate change.
Congratulating Mrs Amosun on her golden jubilee celebration, Hajia Buhari commended her for encouraging women and children in the country through various empowerment programmes that had brought succour to the needy in the society.
The President’s wife also charged the youths to take advantage of the inherent opportunities arising from the challenges posed by climate change and think of what they could do to earn a living.
In his remarks, the Governor of the State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun appreciated his better half, who he described as a pillar of support for the family, saying her ‘Uplift’ projects has helped to complement the efforts of his administration towards improving the standard of living of the people.

In his address, the Chairman of the occasion, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma explained that human development had taken a centre stage across the world especially in the environment where the rise in populations is gradually having negative impact on the earth and as a result, more people are competing for space in the greener part of the society.
