Mrs Amosun task parents of autism children on their devt

Wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Mrs Olufunso Amosun has appealed to parents with Autism children to seek medical advice from experts and desist from hiding the children at home to enable them live active life.
Mrs Amosun who stated this while declaring open a 5-day one-on-one consultation assessment for children living with Autism, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, said information was vital for proper handling of the children especially at home.
Commending the management of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Mrs Amosun called on other stakeholders to emulate the initiative and give back to community in which they operate to improve the quality of lives of the people.
She also called on parents and guardians to take advantage of the five day free one-on-one consultation service and avail their wards of the opportunity provided as well as spread the news by telling other people who have children with Autistic disorder.
According to her, when people are well informed and enlightened about the disorder, there would be great reduction and more support for children and individuals with Autism spectrum.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mojuta called for adequate information and proper management of the children, saying that government has made provision for the education of children with special needs.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, said Autism was a genetic and environmental issue whose cause was yet to be established, adding that his Ministry would provide the platform to ensure the success of the programme.
In her welcome address, the Head of Corporate Affairs, GTB, Mrs Oyinade Adegbite, said experts from the United States of America and their Nigerian counterparts would provide services in speech and physical therapy, behaviour analysis, audiology, development psychiatry, physiotherapy, clinical psychology among others.
