Mosquitoes with Zika virus now in Nigeria – Virologist warns

Head of Department, Virology, University of Ibadan, Professor David Olaleye has alerted that the mosquitoes that are vectors to the Zika virus are also present in Nigeria.
Professor Olaleye who raised the alarm in Ibadan during a chat with newsmen declared that Zika has been detected in the department in years past and was actually isolated in Nigeria in 1975.
He pointed out that the only way to avoid Zika is to take precautionary measures with Nigerians doing everything and anything possible to prevent mosquito bites and ensure that they live in clean environments.
