Morocco Earthquake: Death Toll Rises To 2,100

Authorities in Morocco have pegged the number of dead in the Friday’s earthquake that devasted the country at 2,100.

The latest figure emerged following recovery of more bodies from rubbles by rescue team.

The 6.8 magnitude earthquake occured in the old city of Marrakesh as the epicenter, sending tremors beyond 70 kilometers radius with aftershocks felt in several other cities in the center of the country.

Experts feared that number of dead may likely shoot up in the coming hours due to rising figure of the wounded put at 2,421 and intensity of the vibration and also, high population density of areas affected

World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that more than 300,000 people have been affected in one way or the other by the earthquake.

The country had already declared a three-day of National mourning.
