Minister inaugurates Beach AFCON LOC

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Barr Solomon Dalong has inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of 2016 African Cup of Nations Beach Soccer with Barr. Seyin Akinwumi as chairman.
The Sports Minister said members of the LOC were carefully selected to “handle strategic and important event that will place Nigeria properly on the map of soccer in Africa and beyond.”
The Minister made this statement at media centre of Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
Barr Dalong used the opportunity to congratulate the AFCON LOC members on their well deserved appointments, even as he extended a goodwill message to Christians of Nigeria who are celebrating the Esther.
“It is a period of sober reflection from the agony our Lord Jesus went through to establish the salvation for mankind.”
He stated that it took them several months to be able to agree on the AFCON LOC’s list and this is because “we wanted to give Nigerians and Africans, Nigerians that are examples.”
“Therefore, I am proud to say that we can contest and compete anywhere in Africa with the kind of people in the committee. Your responsibility is enormous, challenging and all is required from you is team spirit to help us to succeed in this task,” Barr Dalong said.
The minister used the occasion to appeal to Nigerians that the country is facing a serious challenge within and outside the country, adding that all that is expected from Nigerians is selfless service from all quarters.
Members of the AFCON Local are Barr Seyin Akinwumi, Hon Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, Vice Chairman; Mr Felix Anyasi Agu of Enyimba of Aba; Chairman of Benue State FA, Margret Inchi and a former Eaglet (1985), Salish Nakade.
Others include Sony Bony Ekafe, Nelson Nimyal, Mr Okon, and Adeyinka Adegboye.
