Mining/street trading, PLSG  to reposition Jos

By; Buhari B. Bello, Jos.
In order to rescue Plateau from environmental hazard as a result of mining activities and make street trading a thing of the past in the state metropolis, the Jos metropolitan development board (JMDB) has started  clearing the debris at burnt Jos main market to enable traders relocate into the market premises to continue their business.
Acting General Manager Jos Metropolitan said positive steps have been taken to eradicate Jos of debris in view of the massive support from his Governor Simon Lalong who on assumption of office re positioned the board for the greater good and help restore Jos to its master plan.
The GM said what is been witnessed in the streets of Jos as result of collaborative effect of the joint task force in the state helped in a great deal to put things under control.
Leader of the team and Deputy Secretary Personnel, Emmanuel Dewan said with this major achievement, traders will be forced to get a shop space where they can transact their business.
He said Government has at all times appealed to traders to stop street trading, saying that it is dangerous as incoming vehicles can run over them  at any slight mistake by the driver.
To him, this exercise would not have been possible if not for the support from the traders union as government had to dialogue them “considering the situation we find ourselves in the state”.
He stressed that government will continue to do its best for the goodness of the state and called on the people  in the state to embrace change as Plateau is on the rise again.
