In view of the important role the media plays as a link between the government and the governed, there is need to play the crucial role of agenda setting.
Kaduna State Team Leader, Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL), Mr. Abel Adejor emphasized this in his opening remarks  at a one-day media engagement towards influencing Kaduna State House of Assembly (SHoA) to vote in favour of the Local Government financial and administrative Autonomy, held in Kaduna on Thursday April 14, 2022.

He stressed that the media must play its all important role as the fourth estate of the realm in keeping the public abreast of developments in the polity, while interfacing with government on the needs and demands of the governed.
Adejor explained that PERL has supported Kaduna to get Local Government Development Plan.
“Even the LG laws  that was amended, citizens made a lot on input.
“Kaduna may be ahead of other states in this regards, to ensure that this is enshrined in the NIgerian Constitution, the media has to play a key role.
“We are not looking at the local government areas alone, we are looking at key reforms so that at the end, Nigerians will be the beneficiaries,” he pointed out.
According to him, Section 9 of the Constitution in the first instance, gives room for the constitution to be amended.
“If you look at the present reality, only the legislature enjoys some autonomy. The judiciary gets no autonomy. They are all supposed to have autonomy,” he said.
