Muslims in Plateau State have been urged to promote Prophet Muhammad (SAW) virtues of tolerance, forgiveness and peaceful living.
Guest speaker at the State 47th annual eid-el-Maulud Sheikh Mukhtar Adam, gave the urge yesterday at the premises of the Jos central Mosque.
“The life style of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), was full of tolerance, forgiveness, and peace maker, therefore it is necessary for us to emulate his life style even as we celebrate his birth day.”
Sheikh Adam said it is a most for parents to inculcate in their children the true love of the Prophet, urging them to also ensure proper education of their children.
Similarly, Governor Simon Lalong of the State has in his good well message to the Monmouth gathering of Muslims, that the period calls for sober reflections, at which the actual life style of the Prophet would be reflected upon.
Represented by his deputy chief of staff, Barr. Yusuf Gambo Hawaja, Lalong said: “It is expected that the period would make people to respect one another’s religious belief and also promote tolerance and improve peaceful coexistence.”
The event which has in attendance Islamic clerics, prominent Muslims, politicians including speaker House of Assembly Hon. Peter Azi, pupils and students of Islamiyya schools, hold and ended peacefully.
Governor Lalong had earlier in his message admonished them to preach peace and love for one another as is the Cardinal Principle Prophet Muhammad (SAW) lived for.
The governor state this in his Maulud felicitations contained in a press statement signed by his Director, Press and Public Affairs, Samuel Nanle.
“The feast of Maulud symbolizes the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the Islamic Month of Rabi’ Al-awwal,” and that, “true religious practice is anchored on the respect for humanity and value addition to each other’s life irrespective of religious inclination.”
He called on religious leaders to preach the messages of peace and love to their adherent and promote mutual coexistence in the society.
Governor Lalong also reiterated the determination of the APC Led Government in the State through her 5 Policy Thrust to provide a focused leadership to the people of the state. While wishing Muslims in the State a peaceful Eid-El Maulud celebration; he also enjoined all to pray for the continuous peace enjoyed in the State.
