Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State broke down in tears before the State House of Assembly while presenting his last eight-year tenure budget estimate of two hundred and eighty eight billion, six hundred and thirty three million two hundred and fifty seven thousand, nine hundred and sixty three billion Naira (288,633,257,963.00 billion Naira) for 2023 fiscal year.
Tagged:- “Budget of transition,” the year 2023 budget has an opening balance of over twelve billion naira.
Governor Bello Masari said the budget comprised capital expenditure of over 184,5 billion naira and recurrent expenditure of over 104.5 Billion.
Governor Masari explained that, the 2023 budget was lower than that of 2022 by over 34.6 billion naira.
Announcing the sectoral allocations as contained in the budget, Governor Aminu Bello Masari said environment has the lion share of 31.7 billion naira representing 17.25 percent of the total budget followed by water resources with over 29.2. Billion naira which represent the 15.8 percent of the budget.
Governor Aminu Masari mentioned Heath sector as the third with an allocation of over twenty three point nine Billion, works over twenty point nine Billion naira,while education was the least with over eighteen point six Billion naira which was about ten point one-two percent of the total budget estimate.
Governor Masari disclosed that, the budget would be financed from the internally generated revenue targeted at 184.052 billion naira and the expected 119.021 billion
Naira from the federation account.
Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Maigari commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state under Governor Aminu Bello Masari for mutual understanding and respect between the executive and the legislature in the state.
