An average young man of about 35 years old whose name was given as Isaac Chukwu has been assassinated by unknown gunmen a week to his wedding.
It was gathered that Mr.Chukwu who hails from Alike Ikwo in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi, a businessman, was gunned down by unknown gunmen at his residence around Ebebe Junction on April 10, 2022.
It was also learnt that his proposed wedding was billed to hold from April 21 to 23, 2022, but he lost his life unexpectedly.
According to the Ebonyi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah while confirming the incident, the young was shot dead on April 10, 2022, but family members of the deceased are yet to report the matter to the police but it was his landlord who reported on 11th of this month, April, saying that the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, CP Garba Aliyu has ordered that the matter be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, where a discreet and clinical investigation will be carried out to unravel those behind the incident.
“According to the signal we got, it was his landlord that reported the following day that the incident took place on 10th and on 11th, the landlord reported to the police that the man was shot and sympathizers took the man to the hospital where he was finally confirmed dead and since then, close family members have not come around to aid the police get clearer picture of what happened then.
“We are not aware. We have not gotten the clearer picture of what happened that will in turn aid us in investigation.
“We are still waiting for the family members to come.The DPO of the area has also said he has contacted those whose numbers were given to him by the landlord who reported the case to get clarification about the incident
“The DPO said he has contacted him, but the man is yet to come.
“So, the family members who will aid police in investigation are yet to come, though it is a surprise to us to hear this kind of thing. In recent times, we have not witnessed that.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the matter be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, where a discreet and clinical investigation will be carried out to unravel the circumstances behind the incident and possibly fish out the perpetrators,” Odah said.
