TY Buratai Academy beat city rivals, Gwange United on penalties to win the Sarkin Yakin Garkuwan Keffi Football Competition at August 27 Stadium Damaturu in a dramatic and fiercely-fought match.
The essence of the competition was to celebrate Governor Mai Mala Buni and the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory from the just concluded general election as well as a way of appreciating his plans for the development of youth in the state
The competition was solely sponsored by an indigenous son of Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State, Engr Hassan Muhammad, Sarkin Yakin Garkuwan Keffi, Matawallen Arewa.
No fewer that 13 teams participated in competition, were Gwange United and TY Buratai Academy qualified for the final.
Sarkin Ado lashed home the winning kick from the spot to make it 7-6 to Los Blancos after the contest had finished 0-0 with neither side able to find the net in full time.
TY Buratai Academy Goalkeeper, Ezekiel was voted Player of the Match in the final by the technical team, who praised his crucial saves at critical moments during the game.
He also made an extraordinary save to deny opponents at the final kick of the penalty shootout.
A large crowd thronged the August 27 Stadium Damaturu on Sunday to watch the final match.
Prizes were awarded after the final whistle, with the first position going home with a trophy set of jersy, football and one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000) alongside gold medals to the players and crew.
The second position went away with a trophy, football, jersy, fifty thousand Naira (N50,000) and silver medals to players and crew, while the third position went home with jersy and football.
