The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State on Sports Development, HonourableĀ  Vincent Akinbami has said that the madness of signing players every year and just allowing them to go for free is gone.
Speaking with some selected journalists, he said bad practices of players transfers have affected movement of cash flow within the football sector.
“Any club coming for our players should be ready to buy them off and pay straight into the club’s account or risk issues with the club and league board.

“A player will sign a three-year contract and move to another club and you will hear the club’s officials and coaches telling you he has gone on loan with no money coming to the club after paying his salary regularly.
“It is a different thing if the club terminates the contract of the players with mutual understanding,” he said.
He called on the league clubs and especially government owned clubs to monitor the number of players signed, their contract and movement of the players.
“When signing, clubs should sign the right players that will be of benefit, play for years for them  and of financial success to their clubs with few experienced players.
“Until the right thing is done, money will not circulate in the football sector or be entering the pockets of club officials,” he added.
He laid emphasis on proper accounting for football clubs and the training of club officials and accountants on preparation of financial statements for  football clubs.
He rounded up by saying that with the right environment, Osun United will lay the foundation “our Governor Alhaji  isiaka Oyetola is open to the right thing to be done and that the Commissioner of Sports, Yemi lawal and Special Adviser to the Governor, Alh Adegboyega Lateef Aremo are all open to the changes.
