Madagali LG NULGE: Acause for joy

IF you have been involved in unionism activities of this one, you will be filled joy. This is a vibrant union, dynamic, energetic and full of activities. They are not violent, barbaric or uncouth in their utterances, but vibrant.
Compared to other local government’s sister unions, Madagali chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) are achievers. Their approach to issues is disarming. Just one year in office, the new leaders, the new executive have achieved a lot. Elected in November 2011, the new set have changed the course of history. The chairman of Nigeria Union of local government employees, Madagali chapter has no Phd. Neither does he possess a second degree, but he is resourceful. He has team Spirit and work. He is not selfish. For example; the chairman whose name is Comrade. Matthias Adams (JP) has within the past eleven to twelve months off-setted an accumulated liability of 11,000,000.00 Naira leave grant and promotion arrears of four months were settled within the period. This was during the period of Abba Medugu tenure as acting chairman. The leave grant and allowance totalled 7.8 million Naira. .The Nigerian union of local government employees was able to make identity cards, for each member in the local government within the period. They negotiated for promotion of many and sponsored the junior management committee to recommend for her members for promotion to the Adamawa State Local Government service Commission, Yola. Their 15 members that were to be prematurely retired during the priveous Administration without cause were reinststed. Today, these 15 staff have been recalled by their able comrade and the are enjoying their salaries. Like I wrote earlier in the preceding paragraphs, the chairman of NULGE here is Comrade Mathias Adamu (JP), the Vice-Chairman is Kyari I. Shimda, acting Secretary and Public relation Officer is Suleiman Mohammed. Their truste is Miss Comfort Puwu and the auditor is Dauda Peter amongst others. Our thorough investigation reveals that comrade Mathias Adamu (JP) had his National Diploma from the National Veterinary research Institute Vom in 2001 and his Higher National Diploma in the year 2005. He was President of National Veterinary technologist 2005 at large.
Comrade Mathias Adamu is a trainer in animal fattening. He is skillful, very talented, active, quintessential and workaholic. That is why he is popular amongst the staff and employees of Madagali local government in Adamawa State. He is suave and can dialogue, if it comes to negotiating for his members. Today, if anyone calls for his removal as the chairman, that person will be “stoned“. In an exclusive interview Comrade Mathias Adamu says they appeal to Adamawa State Government as a union to implement the #18,000,00 minimum wage across. Adamawa State is the only State that has not implemented the minimum wage. Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Taraba, all neighboring States have implemented the minimum, more than a year after. To this end, he says there is a need for Adamawa State to be magnanimous. When you visit some local government secretariats, In Adamawa State, it is virtually empty by 2pm;but in Madagali L.G.A. and specifically, Gulak, the headquarters of the council, it is beehive of activities. Workers are busy going to and fro-but in others like Michika local Government a near by local Government area nothing seems to work.
Kudos to the Nigeria union Local Government Employees, Madagali Local Chapter for pragmatism, patriotism and selfless service to the people. Sometimes, one tends to think and believe that the Younger blood should take over the leadership of this country truly. They are tireless. They are more focused, visionary and steady. This is what is seen in Madagali Local Government. They don’t seem to worry. They take things simple. They take things step by step, one after the other, one by one, but achieve much, they discuss, they plan and display intelligence in their dialogue and discussion and convincingly too.
Therefore, whenever they table issues before the management of the council, it is hardly ignored. Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State has five districts, Gulak, Wagga Madagali, Duhu, and Kirchinga. The special Adviser to the President on Political Adviser is from here. He is Barrister A.A Gulak. The speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly is from here too. He is Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri. The Deputy- Governor of Adamawa State, Barrister James Bala Ngilari is from this Local Government and many Professors in the academia, businessmen and Civil Servants who have risen in their professional career. What is amazing and tantalizing is that the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees are on their feet, doing what other Union and associations cannot do : serving the People selflessly.
