Top politicians in the likes of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga and other stakeholders have turn away from the local government areas elections in Adamawa State
yesterday.
Our Correspondent reported that at about 7:30 am, few electorates came out to go through the process of verification and accreditation prior to the election proper at 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Our reporter who was in Yola South LG decried low turnout of electorates in most polling units, especially women unlike during the last LG elections which recorded high turnout of women and eligible youths in the state.
In Bole/Yolde Pate, Bako and Toungo wards, the turnout was very dismal, cross section of people interviewed
disclosed that they were discouraged from voting by happening in the country and the APC led government.
How can we come out and vote with a hungry stomach, no salary, our children are out of school, what have they done for us? They queried.
A reporter with Voice of America who went to Guyuk to cover the election, Mallam Sanusi Adamu disclosed to our correspondent that as at the time of filing this report, no sensitive or non sensitive materials have been send to the area.
According to him, people deserted polling units and have gone to their various farms.
Information reaching us from other Local Government areas like Michika, Madagali and Shelleng revealed that some insensitive materials were yet to reach those areas and were also experiencing low turn up of people to cast their votes.
According to a senior Government official who do not want his name to be mention said, Lamurde, Numan and Demsa were sent incomplete materials by the Adamawa State Independent Electiral Commission (ADSIEC) and those areas need more time for an election to beconducted.
