Alhaji Sani Liman Kila has emerged President of the National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA) in an election conducted at the Hamdala Hotel, Kaduna.
He scored 58 out of the 69 votes cast to beat his opponent Abdulkadir Dabo who garnered 10 votes, while one was invalid.
The position of Deputy President went to Obinna Charles who was unopposed.
Uwachukwu Joseph Chinedu trounced his opponent Honourable Oko Iwaudofia 45-22 to emerge General Secretary, while Alhaji Mohammed Babangida claimed the Assistant Secretary position.
The position of National Provost was won by Suleiman Dodo who beat his opponent Oladejo Kayode 46-23.
Victoria Etta and Ameh Simon both unopposed, got 69 votes each to emerge National Organising Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Welfare Officer position was won by Oghenewhvo Joseph who polled 45-23 to beat his candidate Chideka Emmanuel Onyinye.
Adetona Solomon with 36, beat two other candidates who both scored 31 votes to win the Financial Secretary position.
For the Zonal Vice Presidents, Anthonia Amodu beat her opponent Gloria Jacob for North Central.
Others were unopposed, with Saleh Ahmed Saleh (North East), Yunusa Murtala (North West), Ifeanyi Kingsley (South East), Ojoba Lawrence (South South) and Ajibola Suleiman (South West).
For other positions, Okonna Simon and Nuhu Lawan Abdullahi emerged Lagal Adviser and PRO respectively, both unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in President, Kila vowed to take the association to greater heights.
He said as an executive committee, the first action they would take is to hold a retreat for newly elected executives, to draw out a one-year action plan that would be implemented after due consultation.
He assured that within his tenure, activities of the association would not only be visible nationwide, but their impact would be felt in the West African sub region.
