An Ibadan based Energy expert, Mr. Olusegun Agboola has tasked stakeholders to rise up and tackle the menace of mass failure and out of school children in Nigeria
The  energy expert stated this in Ibadan while speaking with journalists at Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, during the fifth year remembrance of Chief Ezekiel Ayoola Agboola
According to Mr Agboola, there is the need for stakeholders in the education sector to look beyond
COVID-19 pandemic as not the only cause of mass failure recorded during this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Energy expert emphasized that insecurity occasioned by kidnapping, killings and banditryand infrastructural decay on their parts contributed to the mass failure recorded in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as it makes it difficult for the students to concentrate with their studies.
” Our hope is that we have identified the problem. We believed that if all stakeholders come together to tackle the problem. It is the duty of the government and stakeholders to address the problem”, he said

Mr Agboola lamented that events in the country  in the last three years contributed negatively to the poor performances of students across the country, saying, ” the happenings around the country in the last three years have a bearing on the ability of the students to sit and read in the class.

“We all know that the pandemic has its own. But, apart from the pandemic, we know the state of the nation. In addition, the state of the schools. These affected the performance of the students. Oyo State has the highest number of out of school children in the South-West”.
Agboola while speaking further, added that it is time for all stakeholders to rise up and tackle the menace of mass failure and out of school children.”
