La’ori Seeks FG’s Intervention To Prevent Flood In Communities Along River Benue

In the quest to proffer lasting solution to the annual flood in communities along River Benue in some LGAs in Adamawa State, the member  Representing Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency, Hon. Kwamoti B. La’ori, has sponsored the visit of officials of the Ecological Project Office Abuja, to assess the level of damage done by the flood.

New Nigerian reports that the visiting team, made up of engineers and surveyors were in the area to carry out a survey of communities affected by flood, with a view to  developing a comprehensive engineering design that will mitigate the impact of flooding every year.

The officials include Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu, Engr. Aminu Tofiq Biodun and Engr. Bilya Fana.

Speaking to our correspondent,  the leader of delegation, Ibrahim Salihu, commended the lawmaker for taking bold steps in mitigating the impact of flood among his people.

“The member deserves to be applauded, considering the efforts he has taken, using his personal money,  to invite members of the National Ecological Project office to do the projects for his people,” he said.

Salihu therefore, advised  those residing by the river Benue, to relocate from such places to avoid  further occurrences.

The delegation also visited the Palace of Hama Bachama, HRM. Dr. Daniel Shaga Ismaila (oon) Kpawo-Nomwe, Gilongo -Diya, to intimate him on the reason for their visit and  also  seek his royal blessings.

Some inhabitants of the communities visited, expressed optimism  and hope that the annual disaster would soon be history, given the level of  interventions embarked upon by  the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR).

The people commended the lawmaker for providing relief materials to victims and for the extra legislative efforts he is making to prevent future occurrence.

They also pledged their continuous support and solidarity to the law maker.

It would be recalled that the lawmaker  earlier promised to engage both legislative and extra- legislative means to ensure that flooding become a thing of the past in his constituency.
