Land Reforms, Urban Renewal Will Give Kaduna Residents Habitable Environment – Dep Gov

The Deputy Governor extended the felicitation of the state governor to the delegates,  assuring them of their best as women who serve the people.
She commended the President for his style of leadership.
“Our agenda is putting people first as we relate with people which we serve,” she added.
She thanked them for commending the leadership of the state efforts.
“Our theme is given by visions so that we can give the residents of the state a decent life. We want to support businesses by creating job opportunities and generate more revenue for the state.
“We have made a commitment that we want to see our cities and towns planned, with each of them  having their own master plan  that will allow for   development.
“To this end, the state government designated 117 settlements as urban areas in addition to the existing 23 and has awarded contract for the preparation of master plan for 19 of them,” she informed.

Dr. Hadiza called on town planners and other professionals to collaborate with the government in sensitizing Nigerians on the critical importance of engaging the services of professionals when constructing or developing property.
The Deputy Governor reiterated that, “We cannot build a safe environment that guarantees safety and is fit for human habitation without recourse to engaging the services of professionals in the building profession such as town planners, architects and quantity surveyors.
“In 2019, we rolled out urban renewal programme which has very many components, you must  have noticed the street lighting, security cameras,  modern markets and neighbourhood centres. We are also embarking on street numbering, naming landscaping,” she added.
She called on town planners and other professionals to collaborate with the government in sensitizing Nigerians on the critical importance of engaging the services of professionals when constructing or developing property.

In a remarks, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Toyin Ayinde said they were in government house on  a working visit to the Governor of Kaduna State.
Ayinde, a one-time Commissioner of Physical Planning in Lagos State and the Chairman of the Special Tribunal investigation building collapse in Lagos State commended team Kaduna under the leadership of Governor Nasir El-Rufai for the infrastructure upgrade in Kaduna. 
Ayinde, who noted the low awareness of town planning in Nigeria said that Kaduna State is ahead of others and among the few to domesticate the Urban and Regional Planning Law in Nigeria.
