Nigeria’s reigning Basketball Premier League champions, Kwara Falcons have lost their second game at the ongoing Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference taking place at the magnificent Dakar Arena in Senegal.

The Nigerian team unlike in their first game, were very resilient as they lost by just four points, 78 to 74 in favour of Stade Malien of Mali.

All the four quarters of the game were keenly contested except the third where the Falcons fell short, trailing at some point with about 20 points before rallying in the 4th quarter to close the deficit but was a little too late for the Nigerian champions.

Coach Baba Jibril of the Kwara Falcons said the team is learning fast and there is significant improvement from their last game.

“We are learning very fast and you can see significant improvement in this game compared to our last game. We are still very hopeful to clinch a ticket to the playoff finals in Rwanda from the remaining three games,” Jibril stated.

Nigerian born NBA Academy Africa graduate and Washington State University star,  Rueben Chinyelu played for the Stade Malien scoring 10 points in total to help the Malians defeat the Falcons.

In other games played, REG of Rwanda recorded their second consecutive win by beating ABC of Cote D’Ivoire 80 – 73.

Kwara Falcons will face the BAL defending champions, US Monastir of Tunisia on Wednesday.
