KTSG to spend N5B on primary, secondary schools …redeems N15M pledge to Katsina Fund

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has assured that his administration would redeem the 15 million naira pledge made by the previous regime to Gidauniyar Jihar Katsina and spend 5 billion naira on primary and secondary schools this year.
Alhaji Aminu Masari was speaking when he received the Board of Trustees of Katsina state Development Fund under the chairmanship of Retired Justice Mamman Nasir who paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Katsina.
Governor Masari assured that the payment of the amount would be made to the Gidauniya in the month of September, this year.
He advised that as elders, they needed to persevere in admonishing the present administration to improve the wellbeing of the citizenry.
The Governor acknowledge the contributions of the Gidauniya in the promotion of education, health, agriculture and other sectors from its establishment in 1991 to date.
Alhaji Aminu Masari reiterated that the present administration would remain focused towards the development of foundation education, health, agriculture, water supply and security.
 
Governor Aminu Bello Masari further said about 5 billion naira would be spent this year on the revitalisation of primary and secondary schools in the state adding that over one billion naira was spent from june last year to date on security as it affects Rugu forest area.
He revealed that efforts are on to establish an economic commission by the North- West Governors with the headquarters in Katsina with the aim of fast tracking the development of states in the region.
While calling for change of attitude from the followership, the Governor stressed the need for elders to draw up a programme that would inspire young ones to work hard and restore the past pride of Katsina.
Earlier, the chairman of Board of Trustees of Gidauniya, Retired Justice Mamman Nasir who is also the Galadiman katsina and District Head of Malumfashi spoke at length on the history and achievements of the Gidauniya from 1991 to date.
He said the Fund had provided open wells, boreholes, medicine for dispensaries and clinics, provision of agricultural facilities among others.
Justice Mamman Nasir requested for redemption of a pledged made by the previous administration to Gidauniya amounting to a balance of 15 million Naira.
In a remark, a member of Board of Trustees of the Fund , Alhaji Umaru Mutallab said before the economic meltdown, the foundation has about one billion naira as shares .
He disclosed that as part of efforts to re- energise Gidauniya , the fund had constructed 64 houses in Abuja for sales to drive revenue for the foundation.
In a vote of thanks , a former Governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Abba Musa Rimi said from the inception of Gidauniya to date , projects worth 900 million naira were executed for the development of the state.
He thanked Governor for pledging to settle the 15 million naira.
