Kogi Journalists Forum has said that the ovation that greets the inclusion of Kogi State, naturally situated in the central geopolitical region of Nigeria among oil producing states, will continue to be amplified not only by well meaning citizens of Kogi State, but the entire North.
The assertion was contained in a statement issued in Kaduna by the Chairman and Secretary of the Forum, Noah Ebije and Gbenga Oloniyo respectively.
The forum noted with absolute delight that the age-long disputes which had resulted in unwarranted killings and destruction of property between two communities of Odeke in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi and Aguleri in Anambra States have come to an end by the declaration of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
“This feat should not be merely waved aside, rather the Kogites should all rise in loud ovation and give kudos to Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello who had worked tirelessly behind the scene to actualize the dream.
“Since his assumption of office, the Governor worked in silence having understudied the disputes with deft political approach on the matter which had remained unresolved by his predecessors.
“Today, the habitual critics and fault finders of Governor Yahaya Bello administration have been silenced, while the opposition overwhelmed by this uncommon feat.
“Nigerians tend to have a generalized view of leadership to the effect that the greatest problem in this country is the failure of leadership.
“But there is a story to tell in Kogi State under Governor Yahaya Bello to the effect that the State is lucky.
“Governor Bello is giving Kogi, a glimpse of the principled and dynamic leadership that the people crave.
“Kogites, KJF would say without mincing words, that at last, they have a leader they could countinue to count on and look up to.
“Kogi under Governor Bello, has become a State run on the basis of fairness, consultation, foresight and all the inclusive principles that are compatible with the trends of the time .
“With this feat of the inclusion of Kogi among the oil producing States, the Governor’s name (Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello ) has been written in the golden book of history not only in Kogi State but the entire Northern NIgeria.
“KJF is of the strong conviction that Governor Yahaya Bello is equally working behind the scene to bring to fruition, the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company by the Federal Government before leaving the Lugard House”, the Forum concludes.
The Forum is of practicing journalists of Kogi extraction resident in Kaduna whose mission is to use the profession to change the society for the better through objectivity, being the guiding principle in all they do.
