Kogi House of Assembly has screened and approved the nomination of former MEmber of the State hosue of Assembly, Mr Simon Achuba as Deputy to Governor Yahaya Bello and he was later sworn in.
Born on July 13, 1964, Acuba was a member of the Assembly between 1999 and 2007 and Deputy Speaker of the House between 2003 and 2007.
Speaker of the house, Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal made the declaration in his progress report after the house Committee of the Whole where the Deputy Governor designate was screened.
Lawal said the approval was sequel to the receipt of a letter from the Executive, signed by Governor Bello seeking the consideration and approval of the House.

He stated that the governor hinged the request on Section 191 (3) (c) of the 1999 Constitution as Amended and in the bid not to allow a vacuum to be created.
The New Nigerian reports that Achuba, a two-time member of the House was asked to “Take a Bow and Go” following submission of members that as a former member of the house, there was no need to subject him to rigorous screening.

New Nigeria also reports that the House at the emergency sitting on Tuesday approved a list of 21 nominees for appointment as Special Advisers for the governor.

Lawal added that the request was contained in a separate letter from the governor saying, “In my capacity as the Executive Governor of the state, I wish to apply for the approval of 21 Special Advisers to assist me in the running of the state.”
