Kebbi Pensioners Get N5B Outstanding Pension

Kebbi State Government Wednesday released the sum of five billion naira for the settlement of outstanding pension and gratuity of pensioners in the state.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave the approval shortly after a meeting between state executive council members and stakeholders on payment of pension and gratuity held at government house in Birnin Kebbi.
Addressing a news conference, Commissioner of Finance and Economic Planning, Ibrahim Mohammed Augie said payment of claims shall be on e-payment to the designated accounts of beneficiaries for all categories of pensioners of the state.
He recalled that the sum of one billion naira was also released by the Governor last year where the first set of beneficiaries received their payment through a committee led by Former Accountant General, Mohammed Kwaido.
Augie urged the beneficiaries particularly unverified to reach committees set -up by government at their respective ministries, Department, Agencies, Local Government and Education authorities for clearance and on ward receiving his/her payment in to his/her bank account.
Our correspondent gathered that the pensioners have concluded arrangement to meet at eid-playing ground in Birnin Kebbi metropolis in the early hours of Tuesday to offer a spiritual prayer for God intervention regards to their outstanding pension and gratuity which the government had refused to pay.
