Kebbi NLC Tussle; Sec Members rejects removal of Chairman

The Executive Council Memebers of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kebbi State council at has rejected the removal of chairman of the council, Comrade Murtala Usman by some factional group on the ground that he was sacked by his employer Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDECO).
In a ststement signed by the Acting State Secretary of the Council, Comrade Sama’ila M. A. Sauwa and made available to Journalists in Birnin Kebbi, it said that the Council in its emergency meeting held on Thursday resolved that the impeachment is unconstitutional and bias since the state council of the congress has three vice chairmen as contained in article 21 of the NLC constitution, but only to appoint Auditor as Ag chairman.
It added that ”In a meeting presided by the 1st vice chairman Comrade Yunusa Musa Isma’il with 13 member trade unions in attendence, they unanimously agreed that Comrade Murtala Usman still remain as the substantive state chairman of the council.”
It urged workers across the state to remain calm pending the outcome of the state reconcillation committee set up by the ministry of esterblishment as well as the final resolution from the national headquaters of NLC.
It would be recalled that some factional members from the council addressed journalists on Tuesday where they announced the removal of the state chairman of the council on ground that he was disengaged by KEDECO.
