Kaduna State Government has committed N3 Billion into infrastructural development in unity schools in the state.
State commissioner of Education, Science and Technology Prof. Andrew Jonathan Nok disclosed this at the 24th Annual General Meeting of Zaria Educational Development Association (ZEDA) held at Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar Hall, Barewa College Zaria, at the weekend.
He said government has purchased 5,000 tablets for teachers as part of its plan to modernized teachers to have easy access to modern technology.
Prof. Andrew Nok added that Kaduna State Government will soon eliminate the use of Blackboard and Chalk by teachers in order to save them from unwanted hazard at the end of their services.
In his address, the Chairman Board of Trustees, Prof. Idris Abdulkadir said ZEDA’s intervention programmes are run on yearly basis which no doubt require a lot of finances, and the association acknowledged and appreciated the numerous support and contributions received from spirited individuals and groups.
According to him, the challenges are many and tasking as the association needs the support of everyone morally and financially.
Prof. Abdukadir said the 25 years of ZEDA has been committed towards developing education in all ramifications and has over the years continue to remain focused, consistent and aggressive in the pursuance of its objectives.
Also in his message the Grand Patron and Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris through Fagacin Zazzau, described education as bedrock of human development and it is for this reason that he will continue to support ZEDA and government in all educational programmes and policies.
Emir Idris said ZEDA is indeed working towards improving education in all the ramification and youth empowerment programme in the society.
He called on all members of the society, particularly the well to do as well the elite to commit their time and resources to this noble project, as no amount of investment considered too much or too little for any noble course.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman Central Working Committee Dr. Abdul Alimi Bello pray that our children should pass various levels of their education towards admission into universities and institutions of higher learning, and this cannot be attained without sacrifices and commitments.
