KDHA Polarise Over El-rufai’s Performance

As the Kaduna State House of Assembly in its sitting Thursday passed a vote of confidence on the administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, in contrarymove, a member was almost send out of the chamber during the debate on the floor of the house for opposite the resolution.

The member who is representing Kaura constituency in the state assembly, Dr. Bityoung Yakubu Nkom was  in the opinion that all members should go back to their various constituencies and sample people’s opinion and thereafter report back to the house as matter of fairness before the resolution, but he was almost matched out of the chamber as he wanted to expressed his feeling further even when the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Shagali ordered him to sit down that the resolution was as result of the work currently being executed  by the Governor in the state.

According to the member, the Governor concentrate more on the urban area of the state and needed to look into the rural areas in order to ascertain the level of his performs.

He added that as a member representing the rural areas who has not felt the impact of the development going on, the people of the rural constituencies need to express their feelings on the present administration which was supposed to be the true assessment of their performance.

Meanwhile the vote of confidence which followed a motion as a matter of public importance moved by a member representing Basawa constituency Alhaji Muktar Isa Hazo was supported by the 26 members out of the 27 present at the sitting.

Some of the lawmakers who contributed during the debate on the motion on the floor of the house described the motion as important one explaining that all the constituencies are now enjoying the dividend of democracy and that the administration of Nasir El-Rufai has the power to develop the entire state especially in the area of education and employment which is visible in the free feeding programmes as well as the KASTELEA initiated by the present administration.

According to the lawmakers, his administration deserves commendation and encouragement going by what was already on ground, that it would go a long way in encouraging the governor to provide more dividend of democracy to the people in the state.

The speaker of the house however, directed the clerk of the house barrister Umma Hikima to communicate the resolution of the Assembly to the state Governor.

In a related development, the House also directed the clerk to communicate to the executive, the resolution for the government to upgrade the Kaduna State Fire service to a standard by a way of provision of effective vehicle, adequate fund and others logistics.

The resolution followed a motion moved by a member representing Zaria Kewaye constituency, Mallam Ahmed Mohammed in view of the incessant fire outbreak in the state and the delay in reaching the scenes by the fire service which normally causes loss of lives and property.

Also, the executive bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Kaduna State Peace Commission before the House, passed the second reading and has been referred to the committees on Security and Judiciary for further study and to report back to the House on Thursday 16th, February, 2017.
