KDHA Confirms 2 Council Chairs, 4 Commissioner Nominees

A month to the end of the 23 local government Interim Management Committee Chairmen’s tenure, Kaduna  State House of Assembly has  confirmed the appointment  of  two others and four Commissioner nominees.

The confirmation followed a letter sent by the state Governo,r Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai on Tuesday 21 February, 2017 containing the names of the six nominees, requesting the House to screen and approve their appointment into the State Executive Councils and local Government Interim Management Committee.
The Nominees appeared before the plenary which was presided by the Speaker Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, screened and confirmed.
Those confirmed are Prof Kabiru Mato (Agriculture and Forestry), Hajiya Hafsat Baba (women Affairs and social development), Barister Umma Hikima (Attoney General and Commissioner of Justice), and Alhaji Jafaru Sani (Local Government affairs).
Others screened include Alhaji Abubakar Shehu as the Interim Chairmen Giwa Local Government and Mr John Hassan as the new Interim Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government.
Speaking with Journalist shortly after the screening  Hajiya Hafsat Baba said she would give more priority on issue that concerns women and children in the State, noting that it’s an issue that need the collective attention of both government and the public.
” with the enormous problem in the ministry  of women affairs especially  issues that concerns  women; such as health, education, empowerment and all space of life. I believe  a woman is some one  who needs  to be encouraged to contribute  her quota to nation building and here to see to that “she said.
 according to her, there are so much violence against children and women hence the need to take its very seriously so as to have a very healthy society, which she said it is a collective responsibility of all to come together and address this issue, adding that the child right  act bill which  is before  the house of assembly also need to be giving attention by the lawmakers
She however, restrained  her readiness to collaborate and join hands with  Non-Governmental  organization that  have focused  on women and children to reduce the violence against women and children in the state, even though is the work that has to be done 24-hours round the clock.
