KBSG engages 200,000 farmers to boost rice production

Kebbi State Government is set to engage about two hundred thousand farmers in the state to farming different varieties of farm produce with view to crash the high price of farm input in the state and the country as whole.
Addressing a news conference in Birnin Kebbi, Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Musa Hassan Kalgo disclosed that Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave the approval during his meeting with four traditional rulers of the state over the weekend.
According to him, Government this time around in this segment will only consider genuine farmers where it will give them enough funds to engage in farming of different varieties of farm produce that will help in reducing the price hike of present market price of farm inputs in the state.
Kalgo stated that the Governor also in the meeting has directed that five percent should be remitted in traditional councils account from the figue the state is getting from federation account, noting that Bagudu was aware and happy that only four percent was being remitted into their account.
The Commissioner also revealled that Governor Bagudu has ban the illegal mining across the state, hence any person found engaging in illegal mining would be arested by government officials and be prosecuted.
He called on the people in the state to abide the directives.
