Kaura Empowerment: Bauchi To Distribute Another Batch of 1,000 Tricycles

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi having realized the successes his Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP) is recording in the state disclosed that government would soon distribute another batch of 1,000 tricycles (KeKeNAPEP) soft loans to members of the public.

He recalled that in the first batch of the programme, 1, 000 tricycles were advanced to Okada riders and 154 buses to members of the public including that of National Union of Road Transport Workers as soft loans, saying the repayment has been very encouraging.

Flagging-off the programme in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas of the state, the governor, said beneficiaries are expected to pull out of poverty and contribute to the economic development of the state.

He stated, “Our administration id desirous of pulling out majority of people of Bauchi state out of poverty, and determine to give necessary support to our poverty alleviation agencies to efficiently and effectively discharge their responsibilities”.

Bala observed that it was in the efforts to complement KEEP that the Dangote Micro- Economic Grant for the state aimed at empowering 1, 000 women per ward in each of the Local Government Areas of the state amounting to N200 million with each carting away N10, 000.

Under KEEP, the governor disclosed, the sum of N50, 000 would freely be given to 500 per LGA, three motor-cycles for each of the LG ward and N100, 000 cash to women and youth leaders in each of the Local Government Area.

According to him, KEEP is a deliberate effort at holistically addressing the problem of unemployment and poverty in the state especially among youth and women.

Senator Bala Mohammed explained that the state government is not unmindful of the economic problems being experienced by majority of the people in the state, and assured of addressing the problems with all the seriousness deserved.

The governor expressed delight with the tumultuous support he has been receiving from Bogoro saying “Bogoro is a home to me since I ventured into politics in 2007 when I receive the highest votes to go to the Senate”.

“I will also not forget the votes I got that brought me as a governor in Bauchi state, so I’m Basayi by whatever permutation because of what you showed me of fraternity and love, that I can hardly pay you what you have done to me”.

He attributed the impressive and massive turn-out to witness the program flags-off, saying it is a testimony of the positive impact KEEP has on the lives of generality of the people of the state.

Governor Bala Mohammed assured the people that the state government is irrevocable committed to uplifting their living standard through various economic interventions, and appealed for continued support, understanding and cooperation towards the realization of its noble objectives.

He also appealed of the KEEP various packages to put them to judicious use so as not to continue to loiter on the roads because, as he puts it, no amount of money is too small to build a capital that would make one a millionaire or billionaire by the grace of Allah.
