Katsina State Government said it will pay outstanding gratuities to all retirees in the state before the end of this year.
The Governor Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari made this known in Daura in a speech on the occasion of the Maulud-el-Nabiy celebration promising that the payment would began immediately and end by December 31st.
Explaining the source of the money from which to offset the outstanding gratuities, he said it was a refund made to the 36 states and FCT owing to illegal deductions made by the Federal Government over a period of time.
He promised to expend the money judiciously in key sectors of the economy, including education, health, agriculture and security as well as women and youth empowerment.
Alhaji Bello Masari said the state government would step up its activities to ensure that every part of the state was completely rid of banditry, warning that his government, which has been spending millions of Naira every month to ensure peace, would not condone any act capable of disturbing peace in the state.
Masari who was turbaned as Matawallen Hausa by the Emir of Daura Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar during the occasion, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for making the refund and the numerous bailout funds he has provided to the states.
