Katsîna Police Foils 2 Kidnap Attempts, Rescues Victims

Katsina State Police Command has foiled two kidnap attempts and rescued six kidnapped victims along Jibia – Mauran Namoda road in Katsina State.

A statement by the Command”s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said, “Today, September 28, 2024, at about 08:15 hrs, a distress call was received on the Jibia-Kauran Namoda road, Katsina State and upon receipt of the report, police operatives, in collaboration with the military, immediately responded to the scene and engaged the suspects in a gun duel.”

Consequently, he said four kidnapped victims were successfully rescued and rushed to the hospital for medical attention, adding that, “unfortunately, one victim succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during the attack.”

Similarly, ASP Sadiq Aliyu said at about 07:00 hours, Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call regarding an attempted kidnapping on the Funua-Gusau road at Unguwar Boka village, Faskari local government area in the State.

Promptly responding to the scene, he said Police operatives attached to Faskari in collaboration with the military, engaged the assailants in a gun duel.pointing out that, regrettably, the assailants fatally shot one of the victims during the attack.

However, he said two kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt.stressing that, efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators as the investigation proceeds.
