Katsina State Executive Council has approved the award of contracts worth over 10.3 Billion Naira for the execution of three major projects in the state.
The projects includes, fly-over bridge along Hassan Usman Katsina and Isah Kaita roads, which passed through GRA roundabout at the cost of over 4.3 billion Naira.
The state Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Tasiu Dahiru Dandagoro made this known while briefing newsmen after the regular executive council meeting presided by Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
He said the project would be completed in 12 months.
In the meantime, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has directed the state ministry of agriculture to form a steering committee on the handing over of Kogo Forest in Faskari Local Government Area for conversion to a national park.
This he said, is to ensure timely commencement of the project.
Alhaji Aminu Masari gave the directive when he hosted officials from the National Park Service, led by Conservator General, Dr. Okedeji Agboola Okeyeyin in an interactive session.
Alhaji Masari outlined the composition of the committee to include two district heads of Faskari and Sabuwa, State Director Forestry, and local government forestry officer, among others.
He assured that government would provide all the needed support towards the smooth execution of the park project.
Masari thanked the federal government for selecting Kogo Forest in Faskari Local Government Area, among the ten forest areas to be established new national parks.
Earlier, the Conservator General, Dr. Okedeji Agboola said they were at government house to officially inform the governor of the federal government’s approval for the establishment of ten additional national parks across the country.
According to him, Kogo Forest was included among the ten approved forests for conversation.
He said the visit would also allow them discuss more on the transition process with regards to taking over of the forest for the planned national park.
