Funtua Local Government Council in Katsina State has recorded 81 cases of fire outbreak from January, 2016 to date, Head of administration of the local government, Alhaji Abdullahi A. Kutawa has said.
Alhaji Kutawa said during the incidents three people lost their lives while 31 lives were rescued and property worth millions of naira destroyed, pointing out measures to avoid fire outbreak across the local government areas have been taken.
Part of the measures he said was regular sensitization of people on bush burning and poor handling of fire at homes.
He also attributed the drop on fire outbreak in the area to the provision of fire fighting vehicles by the current state government.
Kutawa who was speaking to journalists in Funtua said Funtua Local Government council has earmarked 20 people oriented projects for execution this year in addition to seven projects executed last year.
