Katsina Assembly Passes Supplementary Budget

Katsina State House of Assembly has passed the state first supplementary budget for this year.
The first supplementary budget amounted to two billion Naira would be expanded for the construction of a flyover at GRA Round About in Katsina metropolis.
The House presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Engineer Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki approved the estimate after adoption of the report of the committee on appropriation and subsequent third reading of the bill.
Earlier, the committee chairman, Aliyu Sabi’u Muduru requested the House to approve the new figure of 850 million Naira for the construction of Randa-Doguru-Gallu-Shargalle road for this year.
 The House also unanimously arrived at the new figure of over 1.3 billion Naira for the construction of Dankama-Majigiri-Kasanki-Bumbum road.
The House in addition upheld the raised figure of 450 million Naira for the construction of Kankara-Ketare-Gora road.
Similarly, the law makers also adopted the amended figure of 500 million Naira for the construction of Jibia-Shimfida road.
The leader of the House, Abubakar Suleiman Abukur who raised motion for the third reading of the bill, thanked the House for the quick passage of the bill into law.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker, Engineer Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki has directed the clerk to forward a clean copy of the bill to the governor for assent.
In another development, the Katsina State House of Assembly has repealed the law that established the State Electoral Commission Law Cap 43 of 1983.
The House presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Engineer Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki however, replaced the new law to provide with the State Independent Electoral Commission of 2022 and for connected matter.
The House also repealed section 13 of the law that establishes the commission.
With this development, the office of the secretary to the commission has been upgraded to the status of the permanent secretary.
This followed adoption of second and third reading of the bill before the plenary.
The bill was sponsored by Tasi’u Musa Maigari a member from Zango Constituency and Dr. Ibrahim Aminu Kurami and informed the House that with the amendment of section 13, it has now repealed  section 15.
Dr. Ibrahim Aminu Kurami who earlier presented the bill for the second reading, informed the session that sections 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 of the commission law has been replaced with section 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 respectively.
Consequently, the Deputy Speaker,  Engineer Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki has directed the clerk to sign a clean copy to the governor for assent.
