Over 800 youth comprising male and female in Funtua and Faskari local government areas have benefitted from financial assistance to set up petty trade for self-reliance.

The assistance was given as empowerment programme to reduce poverty among people of the areas.

In Funtua, the Council Chairman, Lawal Sani Matazu said two hundred women who were given the assistance were also provided training on soap and fragrance making, custard making, pomade and other petty trading before given the funds.

The chairman urged women in the local government area  to endeavour to learn a trade and learn to depend on themselves.

He noted that female traders must learn how to package their products  to attract patronage.

He assured that the local government council would try to find buyers for the products that would be produced by the beneficiaries.

The chairman said another set of two hundred male youth were also given the assistance.

“In Faskari, four hundred youth were given ten thousand Naira each as assistance,’ he disclosed.

The Council Chairman Alhaji Bala Ado Faskari assured that the local government council will continue to give similar assistance every month.
