Katagum Emir Extols Virtues of Governor Abubakar

Emir of Katagum in Bauchi state, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Umar has extolled the sterling qualities of justice and fair-play of Governor Muhammad Abubakar which, he observed, endeared him to the generality of people in the state.
“Ever since your assumption to office in May 2015, your sterling qualities of justice and fair-play has endeared you as worthy leader being loved by generality of people across the length and breadth of our state”, he said.
The emir, was responding to a speech by Governor Muhammad Abubakar, who paid homage to his palace recently in the course of projects inspection tour to parts of the state.
Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Umar noted that despite paucity of funds with the coffers of the state government, the Governor was able to perform creditably well within a short period of time, as government also owed no civil servant a single kobo of monthly salary.
The emir, who was represented by his eldest son and the district head of Shira, Alhaji Baba Umar Faruk, also commended the state government for the regular payments of monthly pensions to retirees in the state.
He however appealed to the state government under the able leadership of Governor Muhammad Abubakar to, as a matter of urgency, consider the payment of gratuities to retired civil servants in the state, estimated to have runs into billions of naira.
Emir Muhammad Umar thumped up for the Bauchi state government for setting up a special committee that identifies problems and needs of the people of Katagum emirate for possible solutions by the government.
Umar, similarly appealed to the state government to consider repairs on the Central Mosque at Azare, headquarters of the emirate, labored by the people for about 40 years to built, but now been leaking during rainy seasons.
He pledged un allowed loyalty and support of the entire people in Katagum emirate to the state government, and assured of their continued cooperation towards achieving its laudable goals.
Emir told Governor, “Katagum emirate council is looking forth to your turbaning ceremony as the ‘Sarkin Bauran Katagum’ at a very foreseeable date to actualize the conferment of the title ‘Sarkin Baura’, borrowed from Sokoto caliphate and first on you by the emirate”.
The Governor had earlier said he was at Katagum emirate to inspect projects contracted by the state government, which commenced from Darazo to Misau and subsequently Katagum Local Government Areas of the state.
Governor Muhammad Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the levels of work on the projects visited, saying he was proud to be associated with Katagum emirate, the palace and the Emir for the title of ‘Sarkin Baura’ earlier bestowed on him, assuring that he would soon send a ‘thank you’ team to the palace.
Abubakar commended the people of Katagum emirate for their support and loyalry to constituted authorities which, he noted, are worthy attributes of good leadership and followership, and hoped the tempo will be maintained for stability of the state.
He called for prayers, for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari from his ailments, and for the APC administrations at both federal and state levels, to salvage Nigerians from the shackles of poverty, want, and diseases.
