*insist on powershift

Rt. Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde aka No Shaking has overstayed his time at the House of Representatives and not even the subtle endorsement received from Governor Nasir el-Rufai will save him in 2023.
A group, Kajuru Local Government Youths For Peace And Development (KALGYPAD) expressed this in a statement, signed by its Secretary, Nathan Dikko, made available to our correspondent in Kaduna on Friday October 7, 2022.
“He is a failed project that has spanned across 20 years of mispresentation and the entire people of Kajuru have rejected his bid to return for the sixth term,” it said.
The statement recalled that, “On the 5th of October, 2022 at the presentation of staff of of office to the new Etsu-Chikun, the Governor of Kaduna State while presenting candidates for 2023 elections, indirectly endorsed the current member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency (even though not from his party) as a ‘good man’ for consideration at the forthcoming general elections in 2023.
“It is without a doubt that the governor is not in tune with the current realities in the constituency as evident in the insecurity challenges bedeviling the constituency especially Kajuru where people are taken almost daily in their scores.
“Currently, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is in the hands of kidnappers for the 15th day with a demand for 50 million naira ransome, alongside the Vice Chairman of the party in Kajuru Local Government,” the statement said.
They therefore, stated that, “While the Governor has his right to openly endorse any candidate (directly or Indirectly) from any political party, nevertheless, the choice of the people will speak at the polls come 2023.
“We unequivocally endorse the Powershift to Kajuru. We wish to appreciate the governor for using this avenue to awaken our conscience and inspiring our unity to mobilise massively in support of the Powershift Project to ensure Justice, fairness and equity to the people of Kajuru.
“It is in this light also that we solicit the support of all well meaning citizens and eligible voters within the Chikun/ Kajuru constituency to align with this movement for the long overdue change so as to attract job provison, meaningful empowerment in the midst of hunger and poverty presently experienced in the country and general development of the constituency as witnessed in other Federal Constituencies.”
