Sequel to the recent incessant attacks that caused the loss of lives and properties in Gonan Rogo, Makyali, Agwala, Ungwan Modi and Ungwan Rana villages of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Global Peace Foundation, Nigeria (GPFN), engaged youth of the affected in a round table discussion with a view to finding lasting solution for peaceful coexistence in the area.
The gathering had in attendance both Christians and Muslims youths aimed at bringing them together to share ideas of understanding of each others with a view of finding a common ground of uniting themselves for harmonious coexistence.
Abdul Mohammed, Programme Manager for Global Peace Foundation, Nigeria, who represented the Country Director of GPFN, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, distributed food items to the victims of the attacks and the youths.
The Global Peace Foundation, Nigeria, in its youth community dialogue distributed food palliative support in line with social distancing measures to further douse the risen tension towards a peaceful Sallah celebration as the festivity is fast approaching.
The event which took place in Kasuwan Magani had in attendance 40 youths drawn from diverse ethno-religious backgrounds with a view to pleading with the victims not to take vengeance but to remain calm for peaceful sallah celebration and thereafter.
The youth were tasked to taking the peace message to their respective communities so that the hoodlums and are into drugs addicts should not mount tension in the area but should shield their swords for peace to reign in the area.
The team of the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria on the course of its interaction with the youth emphasized the need for dialogue and nonviolent approach to potential issues to violence after which a food palliative comprises beans, cassava flakes, soap and face masks were distributed to cushion the effect of the attack as well as the lockdown order.
Responding, Hannatu Mazadus, Ahmad Abdullahi and Friday Joshua, residents of Kasuwan Magani and Rimau Ward respectively lamented that despite the COVID-19 pandemic that was ravaging nations and communities, some bad eggs among the community members were busy planning and implementing evils.
They therefore, appealed for peace and urged youth in the area to embrace peace and disassociate themselves from drug abuse as youth are always at the forefront of any atrocities.
They regrettably emphasized that as a result of the perennial crises in the area, thousands of youth are rendered jobless as the major market (Kasuwan magani market) was closed due to the persistent crises in the area.
Also responding, Rev. Danjuma Mazadu, who is the youth mentor in the area, appreciate the Global Peace Foundation, Nigeria for coming to mobilize the youth again for food support and awareness that would further reduce tension and bridge the gaps that always lead to violence.
He then admonished the youth and the communities entirely to embrace one another as members of one family under God for understanding, unity and peaceful coexistence.
