The Chairman and CEO of Bizi Mobile Cashless Agency, AlhajiAlhaji Aminu Aminu Bizi has frowned at the giving of alms to Almajiris, insisting that instead, their eNaira and mobile banking services should be patronized by the general public.
Alhaji Bizi expressed this, while fielding questions from newsmen on the sidelines of a gathering of Committee of Islamic Schools in Kaduna State on Sunday at the Arewa House.
He explained that, “I have trained 12 Almajiri who will be training others on how to do mobile banking transactions. Now they can work and earn at least N5,000 daily.
“As you can see all the Ulamas are here, and the Almajiris listen to them
Don’t give Almajiri arms, go and get them empowered by patronizing them,” he charged.
He explained further that they are introducing eNaira and Almajiri will be trained to open eNaira accounts for the public.
In a seperate interview, Dr. Usman Abu who is the Chairman of Almajiri Support Initiative (ASRI), said that their main motivation is to bring resource persons together to tackle Almajiri issues in the country.
“I presented a paper on how to remodel the Almajiri.sustem in the country.
“We have at least 10m Almajiri, which is a huge resource. What we need to do is how to use this resources to our advantage in Nigeria.
“We should see how we can train them. In trying to remodel the Almajiri system however, we should be careful, not to destroy what is existing. We can direct them towards vocational education.
“We have been advocating that the Almajiris are given vocational training,” he said.
At the gathering which attracted all the Ulamas in Kadunà State, the Almajiris trained were empowered with POS Machines.
The gathering was organized by the Centre For Quranic Recitation of Nigeria National Head Quarters, Maraban Jos, Kaduna.
